Best Medical Service Provider

Once again, readers of The Sun have voted Yuma Regional Medical Center as Yuma's Best Medical Service Provider.

"Yeah," said Machele Headington, director of community relations. "This is at least the third consecutive year, and we're delighted each year."

YRMC offers "a full array of inpatient and outpatient services, with the newest services being open-heart surgery and expanded heart services," she said.

The new YRMC Heart Center allows physicians to see more people with challenging heart conditions, as opposed to the patients and physicians having to travel to Phoenix as they previously did, she said.

Overall, Headington attributes the Yuma's Best honors to YRMC's quality of physicians and other staff. "We have a pretty large medical staff, and we've been nominated several times as a great place to work. When people are happy in the workplace, they provide quality care.

"The quality of people taking care of our patients makes a great difference. If an organization has people who enjoy caring for people, it shows."

YRMC is also very involved in community outreach programs, with an average of one event every 10 days, she said.
