Best Local Radio /TV Personality

For a guy who makes his living talking, you might not expect Jay Walker to be speechless over the announcement that he is the winner of Yuma's Best Local Radio/TV Personality. "I'm really - wow - I don't know what else to do," said Walker, adding later "it's amazing that I've been able to make that kind of impact."

Every weekday morning from 6 to 10, Walker hosts his own show on 95.1 KTTI. In between bantering with in-studio guests and radio listeners, Walker plays "today's best and all-time favorite" country music.

When he's not on the air, Walker spends time helping organizations that "have anything to do with children." In December, Walker helped to raise about $30,000 in three days for Arizona's Children Association. "I believe in our community," said Walker.

Rewind about nine years and you would have seen Walker in the kitchen "I was a chef," he said. "People would walk in on me practicing my radio voice." He entered a contest to be a radio DJ for a day and won. Since then, he's been gracing the airwaves with his down-home, comedic personality.

Today, Walker is most grateful for his job and his family. "It's awesome. I get up every day and I do all this stuff ... and you know I've got an incredible rock in my wife, Samantha. And I'm lucky to be the guy who gets to talk to people."
